Your nakshatra
The star the Moon stood in when you were born, and what it carries.
Your nakshatra is the lunar mansion, one of twenty-seven, that the Moon stood in when you were born.
You need: Your date, time and place of birth.
What is a nakshatra?
The nakshatras are the twenty-seven lunar mansions: the Moon’s path divided into twenty-seven parts of 13°20′ each. Your nakshatra is the one the Moon stood in when you were born, your janma nakshatra.
Each has a ruling planet and a deity, and four quarters, the padas. Your nakshatra’s ruler begins the sequence of planetary periods (the Vimshottari dasha) that times your life, and its pada gives the syllable a name is classically begun from.
