What is Mangal dosha?

Mangal dosha (kuja dosha; someone who has it is called manglik) is raised when Mars stands in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. B. V. Raman counts it from three points: the lagna, the Moon and Venus. He holds it weakest from the lagna, stronger from the Moon and strongest from Venus.

The texts also give exceptions: signs where Mars raises no dosha, and placements that counteract it. For a marriage it is weighed against the partner’s chart, where it can cancel out, and Raman writes that it need not be given much importance when the two charts are otherwise well matched.

Compatibility

What your reading adds

  • How the dosha weighs against your partner’s chart, where it can cancel out
  • Every koota of the 36-guna matching, explained
  • Both charts read on their own

Questions

Can Mangal dosha be cancelled?

Yes. When both charts have it, it cancels out, and some placements in your own chart counteract it. This check applies the exceptions Raman gives for your own chart; your Compatibility reading weighs it against your partner’s.

Why is it counted from three points?

Raman counts Mars from the lagna, the Moon and Venus, and weighs it differently from each. The result here shows which of the three raise it in your chart.

Is anything I type sent anywhere?

No. It is all worked out on your device, and nothing you type leaves it.
